How to Use Patterns
Using patterns is very easy. It's much easier than copying and pasting a pattern onto
a document repeatitively untill it covers the whole canvas.
1. Open up your pattern that you want to use. You can download some from
here.
I've chosen this pattern:
You can find it on this page
2. Once you've opened up your pattern, go to Edit>>Define Pattern You can
click here for a screenshot
3. Now select your paint bucket tool
(
)
The paint bucket tool should be on the left hand side of your tool bar. If you still can't
find the paint bucket tool then it's hidden in the tool bar. Click here for a screenshot.
4. Now, at top tool bar you should see the File, Edit, Image, Layer etc.
Under that, there should be the word ''fill'' with a drop down menu next to it.
In the drop down menu, select Pattern
5. Next to the drop down menu should have the word ''Pattern:'' and next to that,
there should be a square with a little black arrow. Click that, and then select the pattern that
you defined earlier in step 2.
6. Now select the paint bucket tool (
)
and click anywhere on your canvas. You should now have a background!
7. If you want to place something over your background, like an image, simply open it up
and paste it on top of your background. I used this PNG image I made a while ago:
And here's what I got!
