Quality Black and White Image

Turn this:

Into this:


1. First, open up your image. It does not have to already be black and white.
I'll be using this picture of Adam Lazzara to start off with:


2. Now, let's turn your picture black and white if it already isn't; if it is, skip to step 3.
So go to image>>adjustments>>desaturate
Your image should look something like this:


3. Duplicate your black and white image by going to layer>>duplicate layer.
Once you've done that, set the duplicated layer on soft light on 100% You can change the opacity to whatever suits you.
Here's what my layer pannel now looks like:


Result:

Even really simple effects like these can really make a good difference. :)
