cutting a psd (method 2)
If you do not prefer method 1 of cutting a psd
(click here to read the tutorial)
then you will probably prefer the this method.
I will be using this image of Angela Lindval for this tutorial:
1. Open up your image, and copy and paste it as a new layer in a transparent backgrounded
document.
Your layer pannel should now look something like this:
2. At the right bottom hand corner of your document, click on the blue/grey edge and drag
it diagonally to the right to enlarge the area of the grey section.
You can
to see the enlarged grey area I have made.
3. Now zoom in your image till it takes up the majority of the grey area that you have
just dragged/enlarged out.
(You can zoom in by selecting the zoom tool:
)
You can
to see my image zoomed in the grey area.
4. Next, select the Polygonal Lasso Tool.
I don't really recommend you to use the other lasso tools to make a PNG, but you can try
all of them and see which one you prefer.
5. Now using the polygonal lasso tool, go around your image with the tool, like so:
6. Now copy your image (control+c) with the ''moving ants'' around it and paste it
(control+v) into a new transparent document. (When you have copied your image, and create a new
document, it should have automatically have sized the canvas for you, that should fit the image.)
7. You are almost done! We just need to save it as a .PNG file.
Make sure you save the ''PNG Options'' as None.
Heres my result:
